father that some servants were planing. I read their minds and told father about it. He called me a hero after that, but still kept it in between mother and himself no one else has known about this until now. I never even meant to use it. I guess that my power wanted me to use it, so that I could tell you.”
The girls looked at her in awe then smiled.
“You should have told us sooner.” Megdelia said breaking the silence that had been over them as they digested her information. Katalia looked at Megdelia in shock.
“I thought you guys would think I’m some sort of freak or something.” The girls even Aralina shook their heads.
“Every fairy has their own ability remember.” Kaliea said almost chiddingly.
Katalia nodded her head, “But none that I know of has my ability.”
The group looked at each other and nodded in agreement. Katalia, not wanting to use her ability to know what they were thinking, waited until they were ready to tell her.
“How about we find that important flower for your dress and then, after the ball, we’ll go look in the library to see your family history.” Simolia said logically.
The girls of course agreed with that, and soon went to work to find the perfect flower for the princess, and for some of them their new found friend. Soon they did find the perfect flower; it was a camellia. A rosy type of flower, but with more petals.

“The flower is already starting to wilt!” Princess Katalia exclaimed as they were flying back to the castle.
“Maybe we could freeze it somehow?” Kaliea inquired.
“We could,” Simolia began slowly as if mulling something over in her head, soon however she continued, “but how are we going to do that?”
Princess Katalia gave her a look as if to say ‘I can read your minds remember?’
Simolia sighed audibly, “I know how to.”
The other three looked at her in surprise especially- Megdelia and Kaliea who had known her almost their whole lives.
“You do?” the three said in unison
Simolia nodded, then she held out her hands as a motion for Princess Katalia to put the flower in her hand, the princess quickly complied waiting to see what Simolia had in mind. Simolia closed her eyes and concentrated on the flower and the amount of coolness needed to freeze it slightly, but not so much that it would shatter if dropped. The others watched as they saw her squeeze her eyes in concentration. In addition to freezing, the blossom turn glossy. Aralina reached out to touch it, but Megdelia grabbed her arm and shook her head.
“What… How did you do that?” Kaliea asked in awe.
Simolia shrugged, “I don’t really know I just thought of something cold, and voila a frozen non-wilting flower
The girls looked at her in shock. They had never known that about her. They were certainly learning a lot about each other on that particular day.
The girls looked at Aralina and Megdelia, “And what pray tell are your powers?” Kaliea asked.
Megdelia shrugged, “As far as I know I can fly faster than any fairy I have ever met.”
“Really, now that’s interesting.” The princess said with a smirk she knew of someone else who considered themselves as the fastest and that was her brother, Prince James. “I know, why don’t we all head to the castle and all make this dress.”
“I thought we already were?” Aralina asked with raised eyebrow.
“Well I just confirmed that you will.” Princess Katalia said with a smile. She put an arm around Kaliea and Aralina, who in turn put an arm around Megdelia and Simolia. They began chatting about what the dress would look like, and what the other people at the ball would be wearing, not knowing that soon they would be thrown into a bizarre adventure.

Meanwhile at Uncle Darius’s palace
“Jolent! Jolent! Where are you when I need you?” Darius called, loud enough that the men outside heard him and called for the gnome. Soon after he called, the evil, dark lord heard feet running to do his bidding. Soon the door to the throne room opened, and a short figure with a pointy hat and black cape emerged out of the darkness. As soon as he closed the door, he came up to Darius, bowed, kissed his master’s hand, then stepped back into the shadows.
Darius could scarcely see the small creature take off his hat to show a full head of brown hair, not grey like gnomes were supposed to have, but brown because he was also part elf, which contributed to his very pointy ears and tall stature. (Well taller than any other gnome, that is.)
“You called master?” Jolent questioned.
“Yes I did, servant. I wanted to know if everything is ready for my master plan.” He said coolly, as he grabbed the edge of his cape and swirled it around him as he headed back to his throne.
Darius’s shoulder length, jagged red hair caught the light of the fire, as if it wanted to change into the element that the fire lord possessed.
Jolent nodded, “Yes your malevolence.”
Darius gave an evil chuckle and stroked his mustache. Jolent gave a grimace, for he did not know what the master was up to, nor did he want anything to do with it. Jolent was not evil. Just in debt to Darius. And since he was a gnome of knowledge, he was an asset to Darius so the dark lord never let him leave the castle. But for that, he knew every nook and cranny in the castle, so he was planning his escape as well as, going for help to the nearby palace Fairytropolis and telling the King all about what Darius had done.
“What are you still doing here, Jolent? Remember what I have done to those who are lazy, and do not do my will.”
Jolent jumped in fear and quickly headed out the door.
Darius laughed, “Such a simpleton.” He muttered to himself.
Jolent muttered as he closed the door, “Simpleton eh? Well let’s see if he’s still laughing when I get out of here and tell the King all about what he’s planning. When I figure out what his plan is.”
Back inside the room, Darius laughed, softly, yet evilly, so that it would send a chill down your back. Under his breath, the fire lord muttered, “Little does the simpleton know that he will play a very big part in the capture of the princess. I do hope that he tells everyone what my plan is. Or what he thinks is my plan.”
This time, Darius did not hold back his laughter. It filled the castle, and everywhere around it with bitterness and coldness.
Back at Fairtropolis
The girls had just made it back to the castle and, were making their way to Princess Katalia’s room.
“OK, so where do we start on this dress concoction of yours?” Megdelia asked Kaliea.
Kaliea stared at her in disbelief, “Where do you think I would do it? Don’t you think I would maybe do it in- I don’t know my workshop?”
Megdelia gave her a glare, “I didn’t know if you wanted to do it in the princesses…” Katalia gave her an icy glare, “I mean - err- Katalia’s bedroom?”
Katalia nodded at her as if to say, ‘Now that’s like it.’
“No my workshop has all I need and I don’t think we would want to fly back and forth to get all I need from my workshop to just bring it back when I’m done.” Kaliea explained.
Megdelia and the others nodded in understanding.
“Well what are we waiting for? Let’s go get Katalia’s dress done!” Aralina said in excitement.
The girls- of course- thought that this was an excellent idea. So they all headed for Kaliea’s workshop. And to the task of dressmaking.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“How’s this Kaliea?” Simolia asked raising up the sleeve, she had been working on.
“Perfect! You all are doing a wonderful job.” Kaliea said in praise and astonishment.
“Hey we all might not have the same talent as you, but we do do an adequate job.” Aralina said with a smile.
She really liked these girls, and was glad that she would have something to tell her parents when she wrote to them.
A couple of hours later the girls were finished with Katalia’s dress and just in time too. For in an hour was the beginning of the ball.
“Whew that was exhausting, But fun.” Megdelia sighed, “And the next time I need a new dress, I’ll make sure to let you guys know.”
“Well Kaliea better get busy, for all of you are going with me to the ball tonight.” Katalia said with a mischievous smile.
“Are you nuts?” Simolia exclaimed, and Megdelia finished her train of thought, “We are commoners and I don’t think any of your other guests would like it if you invited us.”
“You are also my best friends- and yes that includes you Aralina- I don’t care what others think. I want you there and that is also an order, so it is no longer up for debate.”
Kaliea rolled her eyes, but kept her mouth shut. That didn’t help any, for Katalia read her thoughts,
“Don’t you think about me like that. I only use that card as you put it because I really want you guys there and that’s the only way I can put it so that you will come.”
“I won’t argue with that.” Aralina said quietly. The girls looked at her as if they wanted her to explain, which she did, “This is almost a once in a lifetime opportunity girls and I think we should go.”
The girls chewed on that, then agreed.
“But I don’t think we have enough time to make new dresses why don’t we take some of Katalia’s dresses and alter them. That is if Katalia doesn’t mind?”
Katalia shook her head. “Not at all, come on and let’s pick out some dresses.”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Uh, uh! There is no way you are getting me into that dress no sir.” Simolia exclaimed putting her arms up in defense. The dress that they all were trying to put her in was the princess’s favorite.
It was a deep scarlet colored dress, with a brownish gold neckline it was in the design of a wrap around, the wrap around was also a deep gold, and had bits of jewels on it, that look like they had been carelessly dumped there ,it was very long, yet it suited Simolia’s short figure, “Come on Simolia this dress would look better on you then it does on me.” Katalia said persuasively.
Simolia sighed, “All right I guess I had better.”
The girls smiled at each other. They had known that she would have been worn down eventually.
“Well now that we all finally have a dress picked out let’s try them on and see about those accessories.” Katalia said excitedly.
Megdelia groaned because she was not one for the accessories, but she would do it for her friend. She grabbed a pretty dark blue dress that complimented her eyes, it was not as
