Thomas stood face to face with the ghostly witch.
Amillet floated over toward Thomas and stood next to him. “That sword is death to any spirit which fights against it,” she whispered to him. “Kill her now.”
Thomas looked at Amillet and nodded. He swung the sword and the blade went through Bethaney’s ghostly skin.
Bethaney let out a ghostly scream which filled the air. Her ghostly body transformed into bones which fell to the ground.
Thomas picked up a bone which vanished in his hand. “What happened?”
“She’s gone. She can’t ever come back. Not even her sisters can bring her back. You’ve destroyed her.”
Thomas looked at toward the rest of cemetery. The rain continued to hit the ground. “Are we safe?”
“No,” William replied. “Not yet. Her two sisters are still out there and there’s no telling what the storm will do to you and your friends.”
“I’m up for another fight.”
“For now you must rest,” Amillet told him. “A living guardian can’t last long in a battle with a spirit no matter the outcome. Come on, let’s get back to the cottage.”
Thomas nodded.
Dead Can DieErika stood, looking down at where Bethaney’s bones had fallen. She shook her head. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. She should have known better.”
“I knew this would happen,” Courtney said as she looked the ground. “I hope your enjoying yourself down there, Bethaney.”
“Have respect for our fallen sister.”
“Respect? HA! She doesn’t deserve it. I bet I would have won the fight against that guardian.”
Erika eyed Courtney. “Not with that attitude. You and Bethaney are arrogant. You’ll be the next one to go if you’re not careful, Courtney.”
Courtney kind of laughed. “Yea right. I’m much more smarter than she was look at what happened to her…. I would never be that dumb.”
“It’s not about being smart or dumb it’s about the both of you being arrogant. Arrogance gets you nowhere in life but death.” Erika shook her head. “Don’t blame me for your troubles when you’re next because you’re just as bad as Bethaney was.”
Courtney stared at Erika. She didn’t like the fact that her sister was doubting her.
SafeThomas placed the sword on the table inside of the cottage and the ghostly armor vanished.
Mia ran over to him and wrapped him up in a hug. “I was so worried about you.”
Thomas smiled. “I’m fine. Didn’t even get a little scratch.”
“Don’t celebrate just yet,” Amillet said as she looked out of the window.
William did the same. “We still have the other two to worry about and that storm…. It’s getting worse.”
“Yea. You kids must be careful but for now you can rest,” Bowergaurd told them.
“Yes rest,” Lisa agreed. “Especially Thomas. A good, strong guardian is needed to fight and that can’t happen if the guardian is exhausted.”
“That’s great and all but he needs food,” Jake said. “And he’s going to need to go to the bathroom sooner or later as well… As do we all.”
Angela smacked Jake in the back of the head. “Moron.”
“He does have a point,” Craven agreed.
“We’ll figure something out for you kids,” Bowergaurd said.
Just BeginningErika looked around and stopped when she was a good distance away from the cottage. She eyed it.
Courtney wasn’t far behind her. “Have they won?”
“Just this round but it’s not over yet,” Erika answered.
Amillet and William appeared outside on the porch of the cottage, looking around. “The war is just starting,” Amillet said.
“We’ll stop them,” William replied. “And now we have another guardian to help fight.”
The End
